Coal Tit in our Blackthorn tree |
The Devon Wildlife Trust is concerned with all aspects of wildlife conservation and is part of The Wildlife Trusts and the SW Wildlife Trusts. We have not yet managed to forge any links with the DWT but their web site is a wonderful source of information if you are coming to Dartmoor with wildlife in your bag of interests.
It goes without saying that we are keen on looking after our wildlife here at Beechwood and are continually trying to improve and extend the range of habitats for birds, insects and small mammals. The management agreement with the DNPA for the hay meadows has given us access to resources we wouldn't otherwise have had - financial as well as knowledge base and experience.

Flora and Fauna
Of course it's not just the animals and birds we're interested in. The vegetation on the moor, the wild flowers in the meadows, the trees, fungii, moss and lichens all deserve equal consideration.
