Dartmoor, like most other top holiday destinations has many exciting attractions for its visitors, from Postbridge all are within an easy car journey. Historical sites and properties, arts & crafts centres, and Dartmoor museums along with attractions designed for families are open through the season (March to October) and many are open all year round. The National Trust has four properties on the edges of Dartmoor and the monks of Buckfast Abbey welcome visitors to join services and enjoy the tranquility of their monastery. The Garden House at Yelverton and Stone Lane Mythic Gardens near Chagford are a both musts for garden lovers and Edwin Tucker & sons (nationally renowned seed suppliers) are at Ashburton.

Ponies and other animals
The Dartmoor Pony Herirage Trust at Brimpts farm is only 10 minutes from Postbridge. Here you learn how endangered the thoroughbred Dartmoor Pony actually is, despite the number of other ponies you will see wild on the moors.

Lydford Gorge - owned by the National Trust is 1 and a half miles long and can be viewed from a 3 mile circular walk of woodland and the spectacular White Lady Falls

The Dartmoor Hawking School of Falconry -only 3 miles away this falconry centre offers various personal experiences with these wonderful birds of prey. Not open to the public so bookings must be made.

"Ben's Zoo" ,recently shown on BBC2, is the story of the rebuilding of Dartmoor Zoological Park. Over 200 animals from stick insects to Ben the brown bear in 30 acres of beautiful parkland. |
